A reminder

I saw God today, in a reminder of who He really is.

My daughter told me something she had seen the other day about misused words.  It said, “We misuse the word awesome.  If something is not awe-inspiring, it is not awesome.”

                              Awesome is Awe – inspiring

I have, like many others, misused the word awesome and  have taken the usage of the word for granted at times.

As I watched this scene from Terrence Malick’s movie, “The Tree of Life”, I realized, not only have I taken the word awesome for granted, but have taken for granted the One who could be the very definition of the word.

God is awe-inspiring

Movies like these, stories, paintings and poems are such good reminders for me.  They bring me back to the realization that God is God and I am not.

“Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you?  I lay my hand on my mouth.”  Job 40:4 (ESV)

When I see God as He is, I become smaller and like Job find myself silenced.  In addition to my silence, my worries and fears and grumbling and complaining are quieted as well,  All are engulfed  in the awesomeness and grace of who God is.

If you, like me need more reminders of who God is, read God’s own description of himself in Job 38-41.

Photo a day

My sister told me about a photo a day challenge on instagram called Project Life 365.  They give you a theme for the day that you use and you can link up and see what others are doing as well.  I have enjoyed it and will occasionally post photos here from that challenge.  Today’s word is challenging.  It is #over_there.  We’ll see what I can come up with.  Why don’t you join me!
